Paths
By Elijah Tate
Two paths sit before each of us,
One’s narrow and rugged,
The other was wide and well kept,
Many see the unkept path and steer clear of it,
Mainly because it’s not appealing to them,
The wide path is favored because it’s easy to travel.
But what if the wide route was consumed in an unseen fire?
And the narrow was lit with a radiant light that left those with a glow?
If the fire destroys all and tramples those that fall,
Then who does one reach out to when they can’t make the call?
This is how I see these two paths,
One of comfort but ultimately leads to death,
And the other that is difficult but rewards with life.
I see the spiritual around me,
I feel the urgency within,
A single word could change the path,
But we keep silent, watching those fall to wrath,
Not all will make it in the end,
But if you had the power,
Where would you send them?
Down the wide or the narrow pathway?
More than mortality hangs in the balance,
Blood on our hands and destruction for our souls.
So many have holes they can’t fill,
But that’s cause they don’t know that blood was spilled,
On a rugged cross the same as the path,
And what was spilled is white as snow.
In the end we do have a say on where others may go,
So don’t send them further into the fire,
But show them the life saving glow.
