These creatures are four to five times larger than normal wolves and are closer to the larger direwolves. These are pitch-black, red-eyed beasts. They move like a wolf but phase in and out of the vaporial form. Their saliva holds toxins that create severe hallucinations bringing to life the worst fears and have their prey locked into a nightmare of the prey's own doing. The saliva also has an acidic compound that eats through armor and clothing adding to the nightmare and embarrassment of the horrors of one's own mind. Nightmare wolves hunt in packs of four to five and the alpha wolf is usually six to seven times the size of the direwolf. Though, tough to handle and fight alone these hell spawn can be handled with a group of soldiers or adventurers.
