Eathron's Moon

As recorded in the journals of the Royal Astronomer, Letharyn Voss

They say the moon never changes.

Those who say that have never watched it long enough.

Most see only its steady glow — the pale lantern that hangs above Eathron's nights. But the Temples teach that the moon is not a light, but a mirror, and what it reflects is not the sun, but the world itself.

I did not believe this until the first time I witnessed the Season of Tepora shift into Veris.

The moon did not brighten.
It did not dim.
It did not change shape.

But its tone changed — the way a voice softens when speaking a truth.

The gem-crust that blankets its surface — diamond, emerald, ruby, sapphire, amethyst, pearl — each answered the season's call. A faint emerald shimmer rose first, like breath on glass. Then ruby threads pulsed beneath it, then sapphire frost, then amethyst haze. Each season brought its own resonance, its own subtle color that only the patient could see.

But there is one night — one night only — when the moon becomes something else entirely.

The Temples call it The Unveiling.

On that night, the gem-frequencies fall into perfect harmony. No single stone dominates. No color rises above the rest. The entire crust becomes a sheet of quiet crystal, neither opaque nor clear — a veil of light that lets the truth beneath shine through.

And for a few breaths, the moon appears translucent.

Through that crystalline veil, the molten gold heart of the moon glows like a living ember. Silver currents shimmer around it, swirling in slow, celestial tides. The onyx-titanium bedrock forms dark, elegant lines — the skeleton of a world crafted, not born.

It is the only time the moon reveals what it truly is.

Not a rock.
Not a satellite.
But a Nexian artifact, humming with the same golden-silvery resonance that lives in the Temples, the armor, and the Crown.

The world holds its breath on that night.
Even the wind seems to listen.

For in that moment, the moon is not a distant light.

It is a window.

A reminder.

A heartbeat in the sky.
